Our Therapeutic Approach

Yad Rachel is one of Israel’s leading organizations in developing and implementing
therapeutic–educational programs for children and families at risk across all sectors of
society. The organization invests extensive thought and significant resources in
creating effective therapeutic responses that are timely, innovative, and aligned with
Israel’s evolving social and security realities. Driven by a deep commitment to the
well-being of children and families, we strive to develop comprehensive and
impactful intervention models that integrate professional knowledge, field experience,
and a systemic perspective.

and center of Yad Rachel.
In recent years, Israeli society has undergone accelerated social and economic shifts
that have deepened inequalities and weakened families’ ability to cope with situations
of risk.
Many families now turn to us while simultaneously facing multiple, inter-generational
risk factors, alongside a diminishing familial and community support system.
This chaotic family reality requires a comprehensive intervention capable of
generating the fastest possible change in risk conditions.
To address this, we have developed in recent years a therapeutic approach that
examines all spheres of life and meets families within the full range of their dynamics
family, interpersonal, and individual, both overt and hidden.
This approach is grounded in three core assumptions:
First, every aspect of the program is viewed as a potential therapeutic space—an
opportunity to create meaningful change through every interaction that takes place
within it.
Second, a dialectical stance that simultaneously holds:
the aspiration for change alongside process-oriented thinking;
the aspiration for deep transformation alongside time-limited treatment;
insights rooted in the internal world alongside meaningful improvement in daily
functioning.
Third, the understanding that achieving change requires actively and directly
touching areas of pain, within an interpersonal relationship that mirrors an early
maternal bond.
Based on these assumptions, the therapeutic alliance stands at the heart of our work. It
is built through a shared process of clarification and formulation—including the
family’s desire for change, the therapeutic goals, and the methods that will lead to the
desired transformation.

In practice, this approach together with our core values of devotion, deep curiosity,
and a warm, loving connection comes to life across all encounters: between a mentor
and a child, a therapist and their clients, and a house-parent and a family.
